Content Management Systems

Ensuring your website content is fully up to date is vital for effective marketing and repeat visits. There are two main ways of updating your site; by employing a third party e.g. EAB or by undertaking the task yourself.

Editing the HTML code has been simplified by the introduction of user-friendly HTML editors e.g. Adobe (Macromedia) Contribute. This product is fully compatible with Dreamweaver, one of the major website creation tools used by many professionals. Websites created in Dreamweaver can be locked down so that editors are only able to undertake given tasks and can include workflow management requiring content to be approved by a designated publisher with higher publishing rights.

At the other end of the scale are full content management systems that allow complex fully templated sites to be created. These may incorporate features such as personalisation, polls, competitions, forums and blogs. Content can be fully workflow managed and may be set to expire at a given date or after a certain period.

In a CMS, the site content is usually separated from presentation enabling content to be delivered by a variety of channels e.g. WAP, digital TV etc. Other language options may also be incorporated. The site may be e-commerce enabled with a tightly integrated module.

EAB can build highly structured sites, engineered to high accessibility and code standards and easy to maintain. We can help you select appropriate software for your project and implement it so that in no time at all you will be up and running with a system customised to your requirements.

We have developed sites in several content management systems and have selected eZ publish as our content management system of choice.
